ANTHONY SMYKLA, MIOSHA
Training and Consultation Program Industrial Hygienist
The silica regulations which have been imposed by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) limit employee exposure to crystalline silica and are detailed and complex. Although the rules apply to many industries, OSHA believes most worker exposure to silica takes place in the construction industry. Anthony Smykla will update us on the silica regulations and needed compliance efforts.
Anthony Smykla is an Industrial Hygienist in MIOSHA’s Training and Consultation Program. He provides occupational health consultation and advice to business, industry, construction, unions, employee groups, schools, colleges, municipalities, counties, and state agencies. Anthony worked in private industry as an employee of Bureau Veritas of North America. He currently sits on the Board of Directors of the Michigan Industrial Hygiene Society. Anthony holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology, a Master’s Degree in Industrial Hygiene and Toxicology and a Juris Doctorate in Law, and is a licensed attorney.
