October 2017 WCA Membership Meeting
American Center for Mobility at Historic Willow Run
Changes to AIA Construction Contract Forms
Join us for our first meeting following our summer hiatus which will take place on Friday, October 6th. We will have presentations on the two very important topics described below. Please note the starting time and location which are different than our usual time and location.
Laurel Champion, chief operating officer for The American Center for Mobility (ACM), will give WCA members an overview of this innovative project. The ACM is a non-profit testing and product development facility for future mobility, designed to enable safe validation of connected and automated vehicle technology, and accelerate the development of voluntary standards. The ACM facility at the 335-acre historic Willow Run site in Ypsilanti Township will be uniquely purpose-built, and will be focused on testing, verification and self-certification of connected and automated vehicles and other mobility technologies.
Ed Boucher, construction attorney with the firm of Kotz Sangster, will speak about the 2017 changes to the AIA “A201” general terms and conditions of the contract for construction. Since this AIA contract document is the most commonly used construction contract form on commercial projects in the United States, and because AIA updates the documents just once every ten years, WCA members will want to learn about the 2017 changes.
