The University of Michigan will be building a $920 million adult inpatient facility. The new 12-story, 690,000 square-foot building will be located on the main medical campus. The plan includes relocation of 110 beds from University Hospital, plus 154 new beds for a total of 264 beds. In addition, there will be 23 procedural suites for surgical and interventional radiology. It will be the most advanced state-of-the-art hospital in Michigan.
Mary Krasny, Associate Director of U of M AEC for Hospital Design and Construction will provide an overview of this history making project.
In 2018, Trinity Health, a national Catholic health system, brought its southeastern and western Michigan health systems together under a unified structure to better serve their communities. The statewide focus enables Mercy Health (based in West Michigan and serving the communities of Grand Rapids, Muskegon, Shelby and the Lakeshore), and Saint Joseph Mercy Health System (based in Southeast Michigan with hospitals in Ann Arbor, Chelsea, Howell, Livonia and Pontiac) to combine their strong care delivery networks while establishing a highly visible and recognizable brand within the communities they serve.
Tom Tocco, Executive Director, Facilities and Construction, for Trinity Health Michigan heads the team that is accountable for the proper and safe operation of facilities, along with design and construction throughout Trinity Health Michigan. This includes eight Trinity Health hospitals, a large ambulatory network, as well as 20 Trinity Health Senior Living facilities. Tom will update us on projects underway or planned throughout the Trinity Health Michigan system.
